NOON VIGIL FOR PEACE: WEDNESDAY, JULY 3, 2019 Because Independence Day falls on a Thursday, this week only, we will hold our weekly vigil on Wednesday, July 3. Next week we will return to our usual Thursday vigils. We vigil for peace in front of the Rolla Post Office, from Noon to 1pm. Please try to join us. The temperature is predicted to be in the 80s. If you do not feel comfortable standing with us in front of the Post Office, please consider driving by and showing your support for our message by honking your horn and flashing a peace sign. 2. Her latest: calling the internment camps on our southern border where children are separated from parents and held without proper food or medical attention in cages what they are: Concentration Camps. Here's an excellent article by Anna Lind-Guzik describing why Alexandria is correct to call them concentration camps. And here are some tweets as Alexandria visits a concentration camp. Criminalizing Compassion Scott Warren's felony trial for rendering humanitarian aid to migrants on our southern border ended in a hung jury. Rendering humanitarian aid to those in need must NEVER be considered criminal. We sometimes think of Europe as being somewhat more “civilized” than the United States; but that is really not the case. Captain Carola Rackete who rescued 53 migrants off the coast of Libya has also been charged in Italy with a felony for her humanitarian work. NEVER AGAIN IS NOW And I love the way young Jews in the United States are refusing to look the other way and are standing up for oppressed peoples, be they in Palestine or on our own southern border. CLIMATE CATASTROPHE I've completed a major rewrite of my ongoing climate essay and renamed it: Climate Catastrophe: Graphs and Commentary. Check it out.
