NOON VIGIL FOR PEACE: THURSDAY, DECEMBER 17, 2020 We vigil for peace in front of the Rolla Post Office, THIS THURSDAY, DECEMBER 17, FROM NOON TO 1:00 PM (and most subsequent Thursdays until Peace is established). Please join us again this Thursday in saying NO WAR AGAINST IRAN or any other country. The temperature is predicted to be in the 40s. If you do not feel comfortable standing with us in front of the Post Office, please consider driving by and showing your support for our message by honking your horn and flashing a peace sign. Note: Since there are so few of us, generally 2 or 3, no need to cancel; but let's maintain social distancing. 2. We are also connected to all living beings on Earth and the ecosystems that sustain us. We ignore these connections at our own peril. Here's an article by Robert Koehler discussing the connections between War and Climate Change.“The one thing we do not need is another war, certainly not against Planet Earth.” —Robert C. Koehler And here's another from Jeff Goodell at Rolling Stone discussing the connection between Climate Change and Emergent Diseases. Many think that if the COVID-19 vaccines work as we hope we can get back to “normal.” No, as Goodell makes plain, getting back to equilibrium will require tremendous life-style changes from all of humanity. Are we willing to make those changes?“In the end, pandemics are a political problem, not a scientific one.” —Jeff Goodell And have you ever wondered about how changes in human life style brought about by the pandemic might affect other life forms?
