Last month, I wrote that the June 27 newsletter was likely, although not definitely, the last. Well, here I am again. It's hard to give up writing after all these years, particularly when I see events that others avoid just crying out to be covered. This newsletter is short — one small snippet. Perhaps there will be others later, but no promises. —Tom

Globalize the Intifada!

Globalize the Intifada! What does it mean?

Intifada is an Arabic word that translates to English as “Uprising” or “Shaking off.” Globalize means to extend to the entire world something that is regional or local. It's a great slogan, particularly, in the context of rising up against the current world order:

A world order which spends trillions of dollars on war, while people live in fear;

A world order in which over ten thousand nuclear weapons lie poised to wipe out human “civilization” and maybe drive the human race to extinction;

A world order that permits a country, armed to the teeth, to kill tens of thousands of unarmed civilians and starve a population of over two million;

A world order which continues to spew climate-destroying greenhouse gases into our atmosphere in ever increasing quantities;

A world order in which a handful of billionaires amass ever increasing wealth and power, while others do without basic necessities like food, shelter, clean air and water;

A world order which produces pseudo-intelligent machines, while ignoring the education of children;

A world order in which a small elite steals everything, including our language.

They even tell us that the words we use mean something they don't. They tell us that “globalize the intifada” means “violence against Jews” and it's “antisemitic” to say “globalize the intifada.”

Zohran Mamdani tells us he discourages the use of the phrase “globalize the intifada.” I encourage it!

Mouthpieces for the world order say it means “violence against Jews.” I say it means rise up against a corrupt self-serving world order and create a new world which serves the needs of all people without exception, in particular, those living in Gaza.

Indeed, the Gaza genocide is only one of many atrocities perpetrated by the current world order, although certainly among the most horrendous. Yes, it is past time to globalize the intifada and do away with the current world order, before it does away with all of us.
