Doing God's Will
“Sometimes, God uses unusual people, people that are not exactly on the straight and narrow. And I believe God is using Mr. Trump. Like I said I don’t like his style, but I believe God is using him. He doesn’t answer to people, he does whatever.”
—Kathy Casillas

I ran across this short quote in 2018 on the lithub.com website. It struck a chord with me and I saved it. Over the years I've wondered what God is using Donald Trump for; and now I think I know.

I believe God is using Donald Trump to destroy the Great American Empire. Think about it. Think of how he is dismantling the federal government, insulting and bullying other nations: friends and enemies alike, attacking anyone he gets a notion to, dismantling the laws and the constitution and privatizing the wealth of the country.

Why is this happening? Here's a Hadith (saying of the Prophet Muhammad, pbuh) that explains it:
“Indeed, when people see an oppressor but do not prevent him from (doing evil), it is likely that Allah will punish them all.”
—The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)

There have been huge protests. On April 5, up to five million may have taken to the streets to protest attacks on Medicaid, Social Security, Education, the Weather Service, NATO, LGBTQ rights, Immigration and much more. But totally missing from the official list was the ongoing Genocide in Gaza, which could not be accomplished without the bombs and other military aid that the United States gives Israel. So far the Genocide has killed over 50,000 and counting.

In other words, throw the Palestinians under the bus. Support for NATO and LGBTQ rights is so much more important than the lives of women and children in Gaza.

This is an abomination. We will pay heavily for it.

However this may play out, I think Donald Trump has already done so much damage that the Great American Empire will not be able to recover.

For example, consider the attack on education. The best and brightest used to come to the United States from all over the world. Many would do scientific research and later stay and work in the United States. This is often referred to as “brain drain.”

But with foreign students being arrested and deported to foreign prisons, and much scientific research being dismantled, why would a bright young student with other options risk coming to the United States where they are clearly not welcome? Indeed, as the American Association for the Advancement of Science notes: Brain Drain is reversing. Young scientists are starting to leave the United States for more favorable climates.

Once dismantled, these programs will not easily be rebuilt. And indeed, with head start and K-12 education under attack too, how will the United States train top-notch scientists and researchers? How will it replace the foreign talent that no longer comes to the United States in the future?

In sum: Donald Trump has already done a tremendous amount of damage. Yet, I suspect there is far more to come.

The obvious solution is to reverse course, voluntarily dismantle the empire and end our support for genocide, anywhere in the world. However, I don't envision this happening.

Here is another scriptural reference to ponder over:
“And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh and he hearkened not unto them.” —Exodus 9:12 (KJV)
This is the way of the Lord: to harden the hearts of the mighty before bringing them low. Blessed be the Lord.

North Korea: First Shot Across the Middle Eastern Bow
“I object to violence because when it appears to do good, the good is only temporary; the evil it does is permanent.” —Mohandas Gandhi
The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea) has demanded that the United States stop bombing Yemen, which it denounced as hooliganism. Laugh if you like, but consider:

North Korea has an estimated 50 nuclear warheads. North Korea also has an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (Hwasong-17) with an estimated range of 15,000 kilometers that can reach the Middle East with room to spare, not to mention South Korea, Japan, Hawaii and the entire continental United States.

North Korea shares a border with China and Russia, powerful allies with a lot more nukes, who would likely take a dim view of any western attacks on North Korean soil.

In the 1950's, the US totally destroyed North Korea's infrastructure, barely leaving one brick standing atop another. The US Genocide killed millions, an estimated 20% of the North Korean population, according to US Air Force General, Curtis LeMay.

I suspect North Korea has been waiting for 70 years for a chance to pay the United States back. Violence has a way of coming back to haunt you, long after the fact.

Should North Korea get involved in the Middle East, I suspect they will prove to be a much stronger and more reliable ally to the Palestinians than the neighboring Muslim majority nations have been, with Yemen being the exception.

Some Climate Highlights
“Reality must take precedence over public relations, for nature cannot be fooled.” —Richard P. Feynman
While Donald Trump attempts to prohibit all mention of the climate:

March 2025 became the third warmest March on record and the warmest March to fall outside of an El Niño episode.

The 12-month running average of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere rose in March by another 0.24 parts per million (ppm) to 425.36 ppm as measured at Mauna Loa.

The World Meteorological Organization reported a whopping 151 extreme weather disasters in 2024.

March and April 2025 saw back to back storms in the central and southeast United States which caused at least 67 fatalities and spawned floods and tornadoes including an EF2 tornado which caused tremendous damage in Rolla, Missouri.

More climate highlights are listed here.
