GLOBAL WARMING CONTINUES
“it isn't just really, really bad; it's catastrophic.”
—Dahr Jamail

I've updated my ongoing climate essay with the February data posted yesterday by NOAA. It's not good; matter of fact, it's catastrophic. Considering the year to run from March 1 through the last day of February: the last five 12-month periods ending in February were the five warmest on record by a margin of 0.12°C. Nine of the ten warmest such 12-month periods occurred within the last decade.

And although the Paris Climate Agreement was signed over three years ago, concentrations of CO2 in the atmosphere continue to rise at greater than the average rate over the past 30 years.

Devastating extreme weather events continue at an unprecedented rate. The month of March has seen horrendous flooding in the upper mid-west of the United States, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Indonesia, southern Africa and maybe elsewhere as well.

1.5 MILLION YOUNGSTERS DEMONSTRATE FOR CLIMATE ACTION

An estimated 1.5 million youngsters around the world walked out of class Friday and demonstrated for climate action to prevent global warming. But here in Rolla, schools closed so students could join the St. Patrick's Day revelry. If there were any demonstrations in Rolla for climate action, I have not heard. And it's unlikely that many of the party-goers learned any real Irish-American history this weekend either.

DONALD TRUMP CONTINUES TO TRY TO STEAL FOSSIL FUELS
“This is not reasonable.” —Greta Thunberg
And as it becomes more and more important that ALL of humanity work together to address the climate crisis, Trump ramps up efforts for regime change in oil rich countries like Venezuela and Iran. Venezuela's oil resources and those of all other countries must stay in the ground to prevent further warming. “This is not reasonable.”
