NOON VIGIL FOR PEACE: THURSDAY, JUNE 4, 2020 We vigil for peace in front of the Rolla Post Office, THIS THURSDAY, JUNE 4, FROM NOON TO 1:00 PM (and most subsequent Thursdays until Peace is established). Please join us again this Thursday in saying NO WAR AGAINST IRAN or any other country. The temperature is predicted to be in the 80s. If you do not feel comfortable standing with us in front of the Post Office, please consider driving by and showing your support for our message by honking your horn and flashing a peace sign. Note: Since there are so few of us, generally 2 or 3, no need to cancel; but let's maintain social distancing. 2. THE MISFIT MATHEMATICIAN (Tom's column, http://tomsager.org) “Violence Upon Violence; Deceit Upon Deceit” You gonna reap just what you sow: We live in what well may be the most violent culture the world has ever known. So is it at all surprising that our city streets have erupted in violence? Rather than ask why this is happening, we might well ask why it was so long in coming; but God is slow to anger.“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” God is not mocked: Can you think of a greater mockery of God? for the President to use tear gas, flash grenades and rubber bullets against peaceful protesters, so he can pose with a Bible in front of a Church. As Bishop Greg Brewer remarked, “This is blasphemy in real time.” Father James Martin noted, “The Bible is not a prop. ... God is not your plaything.” Be not deceived: God will not let such an empire stand for long. Thermonuclear bombs and daisy cutters are no match for the Word of the Lord; neither are military bases that gird the Planet, even into Space, nor teargas, nor flash grenades; nor even a knee on the back of a neck. Nor can one hide for long in a bunker beneath the White House. It is no invisible hand that writes on the wall: (Bible quotes above from Jeremiah 9:5 (NABRE), Galatians 6:7 (KJV) and Daniel 5:26-28 (KJV))“Mene; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it.
