1. THIS THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 18, IS OUR THIRD ANNIVERSARY VIGIL FOR PEACE
It's hard to believe that we have been holding our weekly vigils for peace for three years. Please try to come to this one, Thursday, February 18, Noon to 1:00PM, in front of the Rolla Post Office. The temperature is predicted to be in the mid 30s under mostly sunny skies. If you do not feel comfortable standing with us in front of the Post Office, please consider driving by and showing your support for our message by honking your horn and flashing a peace sign.
2. US MEDIA OMISSIONS
The US media barely, if at all, mentions the Cuban doctors who have served the people of Haiti since long before the earthquake, (click here), or Iran's president Ahmadinejad's call for a world free of inhumane nuclear weapons, (click here). Fortunately, elsewhere in the world, there is still some honest English language reporting.
3. HAITI IS A CREDITOR NATION
Naomi Klein documents that Haiti is a creditor nation if you consider all the wealth sucked out of Haiti by wealthy nations and the destruction caused by their military and economic policies as a debt to be repaid, (click here). I would add that the same could be said of almost any poor country in the world. It is certainly true of Iraq, Palestine and Afghanistan.
